Today’s “dirt”…
• It sounds like Tennessee Tech assistant Russ Willemsen has departed for a spot on the staff at South Alabama. He had spent the past eight seasons on the TTU staff – one as the DBO, and the last seven as an assistant.
• A HS guy headed to the college ranks…I have heard that Matt Fletcher will be named as an assistant at Upper Iowa. He spent the past season as the head coach at Anoka (MN) HS. Fletcher has also served as an assistant at Kentucky Wesleyan and Concordia.
•A college guy headed to the HS ranks…It sounds like Eckerd (FL) assistant Floyd Watkins will become the head coach at Southeast HS (FL). Watkins is a Southeast grad who has been at Eckerd for the past 12 seasons. He would replace Elliot Washington who became the head coach at State College of Florida.
• Casey Apetrei and Lawrence Reed have been hired as assistants at Frank Phillips College (TX). Apetrei was most recently a GA at Southern (LA), while Reed was a GA at Salem International University, (WV).
