A few things that I’ve heard as I prepare to disappear to Saratoga for a few days….
- Sean Woods’ new staff at Southern University is starting to take shape as he has hired Ryan Price and Martiese Morones. Price, the son of Lamar head coach Tic Price, had previously been on the Southern staff from 2011-14 and again in 2016-17. He spent last season as the head coach at The Church Academy of Baton Rouge. Morones, who played at TCU and worked as a GA at Morehead State, is Sean Woods son.
- Two West Virginia Tech assistants are on the move…Ryan Wise is headed to Mercer where he will become a graduate assistant, and Nic Kjaerholt is headed to Florida State where he will join the women’s program as a graduate assistant.
- I have heard that Miles College has hired two new assistant coaches – Robinson School founder/Head coach Vincent Robinson and Former Dillard University assistant Edward Newton. Robinson, A New Jersey native, founded the Robinson school back in 2010. Newton had been an assistant at Dillard since 2015.
- I can confirm that Mike Mailhot has been hired as an assistant coach at Muhlenberg College. Mailhot had spent the past four seasons as on the Nichols College staff, and was a finalist when the head coach position opened earlier this summer.
- New Pacific University (OR) head coach Justin Lunt will hire Matt Petersen as his full-time assistant. Petersen had most recently served on the staff at Rhodes College (TN). An official announcement is expected shortly.
