Daily Dirt – 8/19/11

Here’s some "dirt" to end the week….

Multiple sources have told me that Mike Davis Jr. has accepted an assistant job at Chipola JC. Davis is the son of UAB head coach Mike Davis. The younger Davis played for his father at UAB and this will be his first collegiate coaching job.

I have heard that Atlantic Cape CC will hire Andrew Fields as the new head coach. Fields played overseas for 18 seasons after winning at DII National Championship at Cheney State in 1978.

Sounds like Keystone College head coach Jason Leone is the front runner for the SUNY-Oswego job. Leone has been at Keystone for the past four seasons amassing a 71-35 record. He has also been an assistant at Mercyhurst and Clarkson.

A source has told me that Stillman College assistant Jamaal Jackson will be elevated to the position of associate head coach. Jackson has been at SC since 2008 and spent four seasons at Kentucky State before that.

Florida Southern part-time assistant Kenyan Weeks is in the mix for a spot at Chowan. He scored 1,234 during his career at Florida (1996-2000) and has also worked on the staff at Marshall. Weeks played professionally overseas for six seasons after graduation.
