Daily Dirt – 8/25/11

No updates yesterday – I was off the grid. I took The DirtQueen and the Little DirtBags to a water park / amusement park. The DQ gave me strict “no basketball” orders for the day. Even had to leave the cell in the car. The Little DB’s wore me out, but we had a great time! Now on to some of the things that I’ve heard over the last few days…

Indiana Tech has named Rich Kavalauskas and Eric Anderson as assistant coaches. Kavalauskas previously served as a graduate assistant at Eastern Illinois under Mike Miller. Anderson served as the men’s basketball video coordinator for Eastern Illinois University.

Georgetown College (KY) will name their new head coach today. A 1:30 press conference has been scheduled to announce the replacement for Happy Osborne who took a spot on the staff at Tennessee Tech last week. Word is assistant Chris Briggs, who has been on the staff for four seasons, is in the mix. There are a few other guys involved as well, so we’ll have to wait until this afternoon for the decision.

I’ve heard that Antonio Campbell is in the mix State for an assistant job at Clayton State. He has spent the past three seasons as an assistant at Reinhardt University (GA). Campbell played at Georgia Southwestern – a Peach Belt Conference rival of Clayton State.

Colorado Northwestern CC assistant Kenneth Michaud will leave the men’s program and assume a full-time role on the women’s side. The new assistant for the men’s program will be Britt Gerwick. He was an assistant for Blue Valley Northwest HS in Overland Park, KS.

Check out Villanova head coach Jay Wright as he takes part in a “flash mob.” He’s in the middle of the pack – apparently this was part of Villanova’s opening weekend. Pretty slick moves….
