Daily Dirt – 8/3/12

Packing up for a week-long vacation on the coast – here’s some "dirt" while the DirtQueen loads up the minivan…

• From multiple sources…Gardner-Webb and head coach Chris Holtman are close to hammering out an extension that would run through the 2017 season. Holtmann is 23-41 in his two seasons at GWU. More on this when it becomes official.

• I have heard that College of Central College assistant Tito Arias will become the next head coach at Maine-Machias. The Florida native played at Maine-Machias, and spent one season on staff there before becoming an assistant at the College of Central Florida in 2008. An official announcement is expected next week.

• Two coaches have told me that Oklahoma State assistant video coordinator Robert Herndon has accepted an assistant spot on Mac McConnell’s staff at East Central University (OK).

• I can confirm that former Syracuse manager Dan Sullivan has become an assistant at Mt. Ida College (MA). Sullivan is a Massachusetts native who spent this past summer working camps for Hoop Mountain and the Hoop Group.
