DAILY DIRT – 8/6/24

Story: Adam Nelson (@HD_DirtKing)

Some things that I’ve heard…

Veteran assistant Nima Omidvar has landed on the staff at North Carolina Central replacing Garrett Bridges (departed for Pacific). Omidvar had most recently been an assistant at Coastal Carolina, and has also worked at Fordham, George Washington, South Alabama, Maryland, and NC State.

Josh Baskin is the new assistant video coordinator at Portland. Baskin had spent the past two seasons as a graduate assistant at Georgia State, and was a manager at Indiana before that.

Michigan State has added Blake Lampman as a graduate assistant according to Griffin Beers. Lampman, a Michigan native, played 143 games over the past five seasons for Oakland scoring 1,078 points.

It sounds like the new head coach at NAIA Union Commonwealth University (KY) (formerly Union College) will be Rodney Haddix. Haddix had most recently served as an assistant at Georgetown College, and has also been an assistant at the University of the Cumberlands and the head coach at the former Findlay Prep. An official announcement is expected shortly.

Hood College has added Joris Van Straelen as an assistant basketball coach. He spent last season as a student assistant at Catholic University, and also worked as the Director of Operations for the Capitol Hoops Summer League.

Zach Foster will be hired as an assistant coach at Knox College. Foster wrapped up his playing career at Midwest Conference foe Lake Forest College this past spring.

Joe Smith, who stepped down as the head coach at D3 SUNY Morrisville a few weeks ago has landed as the Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations at Colgate. More on his hiring HERE.
