Daily Dirt – 9/17/13

A few things that I’ve heard as we near the start of practice…

• I have heard that Duane Woodward has joined the staff at Fordham. He had spent the past month or so as an assistant at Queens College (NY) and was an assistant at SUNY Maritime before that. The former Boston College standout (and New York native), recently wrapped up a long playing career overseas.

• I have heard that Villanova assistant Billy Lange has had conversations with the 76ers about some type of role on their organization. It also sounds like Lange turned down an opportunity from Houston to coach their D-League squad.

• It appears that another assistant has left Kennesaw State. D.J. Black, who was hired just a few months ago, is now out. There has been no official statement, but Black is no longer listed on the roster. He had spent the past two seasons on the Navy staff, and was at Penn State prior to that.

• I can confirm that Shepherd University (WVa) has hired Matt Miller as an assistant coach. He had been the head coach at Potomac Churchill HS (MD) for the past five seasons. Before that, he was an assistant at Marymount University (VA).
