Daily Dirt: DII Edition

Some things from the DII world…

  • It sounds like LeMoyne is down to the final group in their search to replace Patrick Beilein (Niagara). The names that I’ve heard are: Nate Champion (assistant coach at Florida Southern / LeMoyne alum), Fred Dupree (former assistant at Niagara, Canisius, College of Charleston, and Rider), Ryan Blackwell (local HS coach / played at Syracuse), and Jason Leone (head coach Oswego State). Interviews are taking place on campus this week.
  • I have heard that Assumption College will make their hire this week. All signs are pointing to a local DIII head coach. It sounds like he beat out two MAAC assistants and another current head coach. The announcement here should be made soon.
  • It sounds like on-campus interviews at Holy Family University are getting going. While this is still a full-time position, the compensation has been slashed from what it was. I have heard that current assistant Ryan Haigh is in the mix. He is a HFU alum who has been on staff there for the past eight years.
  • I can confirm that West Virginia Wesleyan assistant Daniel Waln has resigned. He had been at WVWU for one season, and had served as the special assistant at Coastal Carolina before that. Waln will be replaced by Tom Kotol who had served as a student assistant in the program for the past three seasons.
