Daily Dirt – Friday 3/25

A few things that I’ve picked up in the past 24 hours…..

I can confirm that Old Dominion assistant Jim Corrigan is no longer a candidate at Towson. It may not be a bad thing for him however. ODU head coach Blaine Taylor has been tied to the Wyoming job, so Corrigan will have a shot at ODU, or worse case, following Taylor if he leaves.

Speaking of Wyoming….it seems like they have focused on Taylor, but Taylor may be waiting for something better (Utah)? If Taylor does not take Wyoming, look for them to shift their focus to Murray State head coach Billy Kennedy. He spent one season as an assistant at Wyoming and has done a great job at Murray State.

It sounds like new Providence head coach Ed Cooley is trying to figure out his staff, and who is coming with him from Fairfield. So far, I’ve heard that DBO Tyson Wheeler will not be coming to Providence with Cooley. Also, assistant Brian Blaney will go with Cooley, but most likely in a non-recruiting position. Assistants Carmen Maciariello and Bob Simon will remain in similar roles on the Friars staff (assuming that Simon does not get the Fairfield job).

New Arkansas head coach Mike Anderson is in a similar situation trying to figure out his staff. Assistants Matt Zimmerman and T.J. Cleveland are both Arkansas grads, so look for them to go with Anderson. Associate head coach Melvin Watkins (former head coach at Texas A&M and Charlotte) would like to be considered for the Missouri job – if he’s not, he will most likely head to Arkansas with Anderson.
