A lot of crazy stuff going on in Houston. Here are a few things that I’ve heard while pounding $7 Bud Lights in the Hilton Lobby….
It sounds like Loyola (IL) is set to name St. Louis associate head coach Porter Moser as their next head coach. Before joining Rick Majerus’ staff, he was the head coach at Arkansas-Little Rock and Illinois State. An official announcement could be made tomorrow.
One of the hot rumors out here is that Arizona associate head coach Archie Miller is going to get the Dayton job. Miller is the younger brother of Sean Miller, and has also been an assistant at NC State and Ohio State.
I just heard that VCU assistant Mike Rhoades is involved at Towson (and may be the front runner.) Before VCU, he spent 10 seasons at the head coach at Randolph-Macon (197-76).
Fresno State has interviewed 5 so far. They are, Bob Cantu (USC Assistant), Jerod Haase UNC assistant), Eric Reveno (Univ. of Portland head coach), Wayne Tinkle (Montana head coach), and Rex Walters (San Fransisco head coach). Athletic Director Thomas Boeh is in Houston and may have 1 or two more interviews before he leaves.
Speaking of Cantu, I heard that he also interviewed for the UC-Davis job this weekend.
Linc Darner, head coach at Florida Southern, has met with officials from IUPUI. Darner is an Indiana native, Purdue grad, and former head coach at St. Jospeh’s (IN).
