Daily Dirt II – 4/12/13

Another busy day, another round of "dirt"…

• It sounds like Kennesaw State will hire Brian Lawhon as an assistant. He has served as an assistant at Bellarmine and Wilmington (OH). He played collegiately at Northern Kentucky – now an A-Sun member with Kennesaw. KSU still has one open assistant spot to fill.

• I have heard Eastern Illinois assistant Dan Matic’s name mentioned for a possible assistants spot at South Alabama. This was Matic’s first season at EIU, he has also been on staff at UW Milwaukee and Olney Central College.

• I have heard that at least three interviews were help on campus at Clayton State. The guys who I’ve heard to be involved are: Rand Chappel – head coach Garden City CC, Bart Lundy – assistant coach North Texas, and one other DI assistant (from the Big South). It sounds like an announcement is getting closer.

• ESPN is reporting that Rutgers has now focused on Lakers assistant Eddie Jordan to replace Mike Rice. Jordan is a Rutgers alum. More from ESPN here: http://espn.go.com/new-york/mens-college-basketball/story/_/…

• St. Louis has removed the interim tag from Jim Crews – a move that is not a shock to anyone. He was awarded the NABC National Coach of the Year Award this past weekend in Atlanta. Just waiting on the official press release.
