Some JUCO head coaches on the move…
- Last week in the Daily Dirt, I mentioned that Bob Marlin’s search to replace Kevin Johnson (Tulane) at Louisiana Lafayette was focused on a current DI JUCO head coach. It’s not a secret anymore that the choice here is Daytona State head coach Brock Morris. In his only season as the head coach at DSC, Morris led the Falcons to a 25-7 record. He has previously worked at the DI level at South Alabama, ULL, and Alabama.
- I have heard that Bryan Petersen, who resigned as the head coach at Kirkwood CC (IA) will become an assistant at South Dakota State. Petersen led Kirkwood to the NJCAA DII National Championship this past season. In his six seasons at KCC, he compiled a 157-38 record (31-4 2018-19). Doug Wilson, a 6’7 forward from KCC (21.0ppg) is also headed to the Jackrabbits.
- Also last week, I mentioned the finalists at NJCAA DI Gulf Coast State. I have heard from a great source here that the leader is current Georgia Highlands head coach Phil Gaffney. Stay tuned on this one…an official announcement seems like it’s coming soon.
- NJCAA DI Marshalltown CC (IA) head coach Brynjar Brynjarsson has resigned. He began his tenure at MCC as an assistant back in 2005 before being elevated to head coach. This past season, his squad finished 15-15. I’ll have some names here soon.
