DAILY DIRT: Sunday Night Edition – 6/7/20

A Sunday Night edition of the DD…

I have heard that recently hired Samford assistant Jake Headrick is no longer on Bucky McMillan’s staff. Headrick was hired back in April after spending two seasons as an assistant at Missouri State. He had previously been an assistant Samford (2012-18), and the head coach at Chipola College (FL). It sounds like he is getting out of the business for now.

Louisville has hired former Michigan standout Spike Albrecht as a graduate assistant. Albrecht played at Michigan (2012-16), and finished his career as a grad transfer at Purdue (2016-17). He most recently served as an assistant at Northfield Mt. Hermon, where he played in prep school.

It sounds like Indiana State assistant Terry Parker is in the mix for the last assistant spot on Andy Kennedy’s new staff at UAB. Parker has been at ISU for the past seven seasons and was at Utah Valley before that. More on this one as I hear it.

I missed this one from a few weeks ago, but Rice DBO Rhett Bonner has departed the staff and has become the head coach at West Stokes HS (NC). Bonner had been at Rice for the past three seasons, and has also worked at Charlotte, and Virginia Wesleyan. No word yet on his replacement.
