Daily Dirt – Thursday 3/24

Here’s today’s “Daily Dirt”……

I’ve heard that Memphis assistant Willis Wilson is the front runner at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi. Wilson was the head coach at Rice from 1992-2008 and has been an assistant at Memphis for the past two seasons. Sources have told me that he may have already been offered the job.

Indian Hills CC (IA) is conducting interviews over the next few days. The names that are scheduled to interview are South Suburban College head coach John Pigatti, North Dakota assistant Bryan Martin, Lincoln College head coach Kirk Whiteman, and former Tennessee assistant Steve Forbes.

Oral Roberts head coach Scott Sutton’s name has surfaced in connection with the Bradley search. Sutton has 223 wins in 12 seasons as the head coach at ORU. He is the son of the legendary Eddie Sutton. Since Rob Jeter withdrew his name at Bradley, and Mark Montgomery took the NIU job, it appears that the Bradley administration is continuing to grind to dig up names.

Williams head coach Mike Maker’s name has been floated around at Colgate. After taking his team to the DIII Final Four this past season, he will get some consideration. This would not be the first time a Williams coach departed for the Patriot league. Former Williams head coach Dave Paulsen is the head coach at Bucknell.

Jan van Breda Kolff is no longer in the running at Florida Gulf Coast. Late last week, the former Vanderbilt and Pepperdine head coach was told that he is no longer a candidate . The list has been pared down to 8-10 names with the search continuing this week.

Enjoy the games tonight!
