Daily Dirt: Weekend Edition – 4/14/19

I’m not a hockey guy, but enjoyed watching the Bruins beat the Maple Leafs while sitting in a sports bar in Toronto. A lot of unhappy blue shirts at the end of the night. At least the Raptors played well…

Anyway, a bunch of things going on this weekend. A bit of an abbreviated version of the Daily Dirt as we get ready to go see the Blue Jays play…

  • It’s looking more and more like Valdosta State head coach Mike Helfer is now the leader at Kennesaw State. In his 14 seasons at VSU, he’s gone 277-137 (24-7 this past season). He also won 186 games in 8 seasons at Southern Poly. Heard this one may be wrapped up on Tuesday.

  • All signs are now pointing to Wofford promoting Jay McAuley to replace Mike Young as the Terriers new head coach. It sounds like the final two were him and Minnesota assistant Ed Conroy. An announcement here could come as early as today.

  • I have heard that Independence CC (KS) will name Barry University (FL) assistant Bill Morosco as their new head coach. Before joining the staff at Barry last summer, Morosco had been an assistant at Eastern Florida State College. He has also worked at Presbyterian, The Citadel, and UC Davis.

  • Western New Mexico is down to three finalists in their search. On campus interviews will take place over the next few weeks.
