John Redman has been named assistant men’s basketball coach at Dalton State. Coach Redman is a recent graduate of Spring Hill College where he served as a student assistant basketball coach for the past three seasons.

Redman moved into coaching at the college level after his playing career at Spring Hill ended due to injury. "I am very impressed with Coach Redman’s knowledge of the game for a young coach, and he is a tireless worker," says Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Tony Ingle. "He comes highly recommended from coaches I really respect, and he will be an integral part of the foundation we are building here at Dalton State."

Redman is a native of Spanish Fort, Alabama, where he played at Spanish Fort High School for Hall of Fame Coach Arthur Haynes. He signed a basketball scholarship at Spring Hill College after graduation.

After transitioning from a student-athlete to an assistant coach at Spring Hill, Redman had quite a bit of success on the recruiting trail. While at Spring Hill, he brought in three Southern States Athletic Conference (SSAC) All-West Division Players, four SSAC all-freshman team honorees, and the SSAC freshman of the year. One of his recruits was also named a Daktronics NAIA Scholar Athlete which is the NAIA’s highest academic honor for an athlete. In his final year at Spring Hill, he coached his younger brother, Ben Redman, who was the team’s starting point guard.

"I could not be more excited to continue my career with a legend like Coach Ingle and at a place that is establishing something new and special like Dalton State," says Coach Redman. "I feel blessed to be able to now call Dalton home, and I look forward to helping build a nationally competitive program that enriches young men’s lives and energizes both the institution and the community. I think I can bring a lot to the table, especially with regard to my knowledge of NAIA basketball and my extensive recruiting contacts in the Southeast. I cannot wait to get started with Coach Ingle."
