Minnesota North College-Vermilion Head Men’s Basketball Coach Matthew Shonder announces the hiring of Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, Randy Daniel.

Daniel joins Coach Matthew Shonder’s Minnesota North College- Vermilion Men’s Basketball staff as the Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach, bringing a distinguished background as a former JUCO All‑American, NCAA Division II student‑athlete, and professional player in the United Basketball League (UBL). A Vermilion alumnus, Daniel returns to his former program with an extensive background in player development, competitive training, and collegiate program support.

He holds a Master of Business Administration in Sports Management and is currently completing a Doctorate in Sports Leadership, integrating evidence‑based coaching methods with a servant‑leadership philosophy. Daniel has spent more than a decade training athletes across multiple levels, specializing in skill refinement, performance progression, and holistic student‑athlete development.

His combined academic preparation, playing career, and coaching expertise position him to contribute meaningfully to the growth, culture, and competitive success of the Ironhawks basketball program.
