Darik Artis Joins AB Men’s Basketball Coaching Staff

Darik Artis has been added to the AB Men’s Basketball coaching staff, serving under Head Coach Stephen Dye. Artis joins the Battlers after most recently serving as a Graduate Assistant for the Men’s Basketball program at Cleveland State University.

A native of Columbus, Ohio, Artis completed his undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University while also being a student manager serving under both coaches Thad Matta (2014-2017) and Chris Holtmann (2017-2019). During his time with the Buckeyes, he worked closely with the assistant coaches during practices and individual skill development sessions.
Prior to his role as GA at CSU, Artis served as an assistant coach at his high school alma mater of Columbus Africentric Early College, as well as being the Video Coordinator for the UC Davis basketball team.

“I am excited to add Darik to the staff and know he will come in immediately and help us continue the basketball tradition at AB,” Head Coach Stephen Dye said. “Darik has worked with several great college programs in his basketball career and I know his knowledge of the game will translate great for our staff and players.”

The Battlers are coming off a 14-win season that saw the team reach the MEC Semifinals a season ago.

“I’m super excited to be a part of the Battler family and tradition,” Artis said. “I’ve heard nothing but good things in my short time being here and felt nothing but positivity. I can’t wait to dive in and see everything Philippi and AB has to offer.”
