Marist head men’s basketball coach Mike Maker has announced the hiring of Scott Day as the program’s director of operations.
For the previous two seasons, Day served as an assistant coach on Maker’s staff at Williams College and was involved in all aspects of the program. In that time, the Ephs had a record of 54-10. They reached the Division III national championship game in 2014, and reached the Elite Eight in 2013. Prior to his arrival at Williams, Day served as an assistant coach at Thunder Ridge High School, where he helped the team reach the quarterfinals of the 2012 5A Colorado State Tournament.
“Scott’s experience with us at Williams will allow him to make an immediate contribution at Marist because he understands our programmatic values, expectations and system,” Maker said.
Day began his collegiate career at Lamar Community College, and started for a team that placed fifth at the NJCAA National Tournament. He earned Academic All-American honors at Lamar. Day then played his final two seasons as a point forward in a Princeton-style offense at Ouachita Baptist University, where he was a two-year captain and was named Academic All-Conference.
Day is a native of Highlands Ranch, Colo.
“I am very excited to get an opportunity to work with a staff that has so much experience, knowledge and substance,” Day said. “I look forward to interacting with our players in such a special atmosphere that Marist has to offer.”
The hiring completes Maker’s staff, as Day joins assistant coaches Paul Lee, Andy Johnston and C.J. Lee.
