Jerry Etienne has been named an assistant coach at Dean College. Etienne spent one year at Newbury College as the top assistant at Newbury College. Etienne helped Newbury to a 2nd place NECC regular season finish. Last season, Newbury’s season concluded in the NECC tournament semi-finals in overtime verse Regis College. While at Newbury, Etienne was responsible for the team’s defense, perimeter player development (including the 2nd leading scorer in program history), film exchange, scouting and recruiting.
Prior to Newbury, Etienne was a varsity assistant and JV boys high school basketball coach at Brookline High School (5 years) and Boston Latin High School (1 year). Etienne graduated from Emmanuel College in 2005 where he was a two year starter. He left Emmanuel as the men’s basketball programs all time assists leader and top 10 in various statistical categories. A licensed school counselor for the past 5 years, Etienne currently works at Newton North High School. Etienne obtained his Master’s Degree in school counseling from Cambridge College in June 2008.
