DeLeon resigns as Head Basketball Coach at Trinity Baptist College

Trinity Baptist College Athletic Director John D. Jones has accepted the resignation of Men’s Basketball coach Nate DeLeon, effective immediately following his one season at the helm.

“We would like to thank Nate for the leadership he provided the young men in our basketball program, and the excitement that their play on the court generated,” said Jones. “Nate is a talented coach who builds great relationships with his players. We wish him well in his next step.”

DeLeon served as an assistant coach for 3 years and was promoted to head coach upon the retirement of Jones. He led his team to a 10-11 record. The 2023-24 Eagles finished with a South Region record of 6-6, and a third-place finish in the final league standings. The team ended the season with a loss in the first round of the South Region tournament to six-seed Pensacola Christian.

Sophomore guard Diego Fernandez (Valdosta, GA) was named to the South Region first team in DeLeon’s lone season at TBC, while Xavier Rose (Valdosta, GA / JR) was named second team.

Prior to being named head coach, DeLeon coached Trinity’s JV team, leading them to the Bible College NIT championship in 2023.

The search for the new head coach will begin immediately.
