DePaul head coach Tony Stubblefield announced today that Paris Parham, Steve Thomas and Patrick Scully have joined the men’s basketball staff. Parham and Thomas are assistant coaches while Scully is the director of basketball operations.
“I’m thrilled to welcome Paris, Steve and Patrick to Lincoln Park as the first staff additions to the men’s basketball program,” said Stubblefield. “I know they are eager to hit the ground running and meet our current team, our future recruits, our fans and our campus community. Paris and Steve both bring high-level recruiting and player development abilities to our program while Patrick was an integral of our operations behind the scenes at Oregon.”
Parham is a Chicago native that spent the last four seasons at Milwaukee. He has been in collegiate coaching for nearly two decades that includes previous stops for five seasons each at Illinois and Illinois State. In five seasons with Parham on the Illini staff, the team made three postseason appearances while averaging 19 wins per year. Parham helped the Redbirds to 104 wins in his five seasons in Normal that included three Missouri Valley Tournament championship appearances and four NIT appearances. He also coached at the high school level in Chicago at Morgan Park and Phillips Academy after serving as an assistant coach at Maryland-Eastern Shore.
Thomas joins the staff after working at Richmond since 2015 as director of basketball operations before being promoted to assistant coach in 2019. In the last two seasons with Thomas as an assistant coach the Spiders went 24-7 in 2019-20 and 14-9 with a NIT appearance this past season that included a No. 19 ranking in the AP poll for the best ranking for the program since 1957. He also spent one season at Virginia Tech in 2014-15 as director of student-athlete development and was a graduate assistant at Oregon from 2012-14.
Scully joins Stubblefield in Chicago as the director of basketball operations after serving as video coordinator/director of creativity at Oregon since 2019. The Ducks went a combined 45-14 over the last two seasons that included the 2020 Pac-12 Regular Season title and a 2021 Sweet 16 appearance in the NCAA Tournament. He worked in the video operations area for the Ducks since his freshman year in 2013 as a student manager. Following completion of his undergraduate degree, Scully was a graduate assistant at Oregon and added social media duties as well as Oregon’s basketball camp responsibilities to his video role.
All three staff members started with the program this week and the remainder of the basketball staff will be announced once it is finalized.
