The Marian men’s basketball team has hired Devin Heath-Granger to the role of director of basketball operations as announced by head coach Scott Heady.
“It means a lot to be able to start my career in the city I grew up playing basketball,” said Heath-Granger. “Getting the chance to learn from coaches with such great knowledge and experience as the ones here at Marian University is something I am looking forward to. Marian University has a rich and successful tradition in athletics and academics and I am excited to be a part of the culture. I would like to thank my family for their support and Coach Heady, his staff, and the athletic administration for this opportunity.”
Heath-Granger comes to Marian from Goshen College where he spent the last four seasons as a point guard for the Maple Leafs. The Lawrence Central grad from Indianapolis, was a four-year starter and three-year captain at Goshen. He graduated as the all-time program leader in assists with 581 and ranks third in steals with 202. He capped his career by surpassing the 1,000 point plateau and earning All-Crossroads League honors.
“We welcome Devin to MU basketball and believe he will be a great fit on our coaching staff as Director of Basketball Operations,” said Heady. “Devin understands how competitive the Crossroads League is as a player the past four years. He was one of the best point guards in the league. Devin is a very hard worker, loyal, and has a great understanding of the game.”
Heath-Granger has already begun his coaching career, serving as the head coach of the Northside Spartans AAU team in Indianapolis and as the junior varsity coach at Goshen. He worked as a camp counselor at Butler and Purdue’s summer basketball camps and coached youth basketball teams while living in Goshen.
The Knights will open the 2018-19 season Oct. 27 at Ohio Christian.
