Two quick things that I have just heard…
• Multiple sources are reporting that Texas head coach Rick Barnes has been told to make changes on his staff or be fired. There are now reports surfacing that Barnes is leaning towards refusing to make any changes, and therefore not return to Texas. This is a rapidly developing story…I will keep you updated as I hear more.
• Steve Lavin’s departure has been in the works for a few weeks, and apparently has given St. John’s some time to start considering candidates. There are a few names that are popping right now…Buffalo head coach Bobby Hurley, and former Johnnie Chris Mullen are hot here. Hurley has also been linked to the DePaul job, and reportedly has a contract extension in hand if he decides to return to Buffalo. Mullen is a NYC native and St. John’s legend. He was the #7 pick in the 1985 draft and played for 16 years in the league. More on this as it develops as well. **UPDATE: URI’s Dan Hurley also getting some play here. Keep an eye on this one….**
