I have heard from multiple sources that Delta State will name Mike Nienaber as their new head basketball coach. Nienaber is currently the head coach at Gulf South Conference foe Christian Brothers University. He will replace Jim Boone who became the head coach at Arkansas Fort Smith earlier this spring.

Nienaber has been at CBU since 1999 where has gone 351-224 (19-10 this past season). Before taking over at CBU, he spent 16 seasons as the head coach at Bethel (TN). Nienaber has 593 career victories in his 36 seasons.

CBU was eliminated from the GSC Tournament in the first round this season by Delta State after beating them twice during the regular season.

An official announcement is expected on Thursday.
