There are a bunch of DII openings right now. Here are updates on a few of them…

Tusculum College (TN)

I have heard that Tusculum College is onto the Skype round of interviews. Over the next week, the search committee is expected to talk to eight coaches. The names that I have heard here are: Jason Allison (Assistant Coach Appalachian State), Chris Cottrell (Assistant Coach Lincoln Memorial), Grant Leonard (Associate Head Coach Queens University of Charlotte), Raul Placeres (Associate Head Coach Maryville College), and Jay Welborn (current Assistant Coach Tusculum College). I have also heard that there is one more DI assistant, and a small college assistant involved.

Newman University (KS)

The search is moving quickly here. I have heard that this could be wrapped up next week. Some of the names that I have heard surrounding this one are: R.J. Allen (current Associate Head Coach Newman University), Steve Eck (Head Coach Hutchinson CC – Newman alum), and Vinay Patel (Head Coach Oklahoma City University). Sounds like 1-2 more involved, but this one is definitely headed down the home stretch.

Northeastern State (OK)

Interesting one here. There are three current head coaches who played at NSU – Justin Barkley (Rogers State), Ja Havens (East Central University), and Tom Hankins (Central Oklahoma). Not quite sure where this one is headed, but will be interesting to follow on Twitter through @NSUCoachSearch. More on this one as I hear it.

Cheyney University (PA)

They’ve been at this one for a while. Looks like they haven’t made much progress, and just revised and re-posted the position. The new job description can be found HERE.

Working on a list at Texas A&M-Commerce. Sounds like a lot of guys kicking the tires on this one…
