I have heard that NYU will hire former assistant coach Dagan Nelson as the Violets new head basketball coach. He will replace his former boss Joe Nesci who retired back in March.

Nelson, a New York native, served as an assistant at NYU from 2000-2002. He then went on to become a DI assistant at both Eastern Kentucky and Stony Brook. He also spent four seasons as the head coach at SUNY New Paltz (2007-11). He left New Paltz to become the head coach at Westchester Country Day School (NC), and most recently had been coaching the Upward Stars SE AAU program.

An official announcement is expected shortly.
