Doane hires new coach

Doane College Athletic Director Greg Heier announced today the hiring of Jim Weeks as head men’s basketball coach for the Tigers. Weeks, a 1985 Doane graduate, joins the Tiger coaching staff following a long tenure at Beatrice High School.

In 26 years, 24 at Beatrice, Weeks won 441 games and lead Beatrice to three state titles (1998, 2005, 2008), three runner-up finishes, 13 Class B semifinal appearances and a 3rd Place finish at the Class B Boys State Tournament this past season. Beatrice has qualified for the state tournament in 15 of the past 17 years.

He replaces Ian Brown who resigned after 10 years at the helm of the Tiger program.
