Dominic Lombardi, who spent the 2016-17 season as director of player development at Duquesne, has been named director of basketball operations with Morehead State men’s basketball.
“Adding Dom to our staff will be a huge asset for us. He’s a guy that I’ve known for a long time, spending two years with me at the University of Kentucky and he took on a lot of the roles that I did when I first got in the business,” said head coach Preston Spradlin.
Prior to his season at Duquesne, Lombardi served two years as video coordinator at South Florida under former head coach Orlando Antigua. Before accompanying Antigua to USF, Lombardi was assistant video coordinator at Kentucky for two seasons, culminating in a national championship appearance in 2013-14.
Lombardi played three seasons of NCAA Division II basketball at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where he spent his senior year as a student assistant coach under his father, head coach Joe Lombardi.
“He adds a wealth of experience and knowledge. He’s extremely organized, he has great energy, and he has a great passion for student-athletes that will help pay dividends for us going forward,” added Spradlin.
A native of Indiana, Pa., Lombardi graduated from IUP with a degree in marketing in 2012. Lombardi joins newly minted head coach Preston Spradlin’s staff as a replacement for Jonathan Mattox, who was promoted to assistant coach earlier this month.
