Dominican College adds assistant

Dominican College Director of Athletics and Head Men’s Basketball Coach, Joseph S. Clinton, has announced the hiring of Jason A. Armstrong as an assistant men’s basketball coach.

"It is nice to have Jason come back to the DC Community," Clinton said. "He will be an asset to our basketball program."

Armstrong is no stranger to Dominican College as he began his collegiate career as a member of the Chargers. A two-year member of the team, Armstrong was a member of the 1995-1996 team that won the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Regular Season Championship.

Armstrong comes to Dominican after spending the last two seasons as an assistant coach at CACC member, Bloomfield College. In his time with the Deacons, the team won a CACC North Division Championship and won two CACC Tournament Titles. The Deacons made two NCAA East Regional Tournament appearances and one East Regional Championship appearance in his time there.

"Jason has had a lot of success with other programs," said Clinton. "His work ethic and dedication to the sport will be a welcomed addition to our staff."

His coaching career began in 2006 as he took the helm of the Riverside Hawks AAU program where he served as the head coach for five years. From there, he moved on to LaSalle Academy where he was an assistant varsity coach for two years. Prior to his stint at Bloomfield, he was the head coach and director of athletics at Uncommon Charter High School in Brooklyn, N.Y.

A 2000 graduate of the University of the District of Columia, Armstrong earned his bachelor of arts degree in Communications, with a concentration in television and radio.
