Coastal Carolina University men’s basketball associate head coach Don Hogan has resigned his position to pursue an opportunity as the director of athletics for the Lake County School District in Florida, announced head coach Cliff Ellis.
“I am very happy for Don as he starts this next journey,” said Ellis. “I know Don has wanted to enter the administration side of athletics for some time and I am glad he is getting that opportunity.
“Don was one of the first players I recruited when I was starting my coaching career at South Alabama and he has been a large part of the numerous success we have had over the years. I wish him nothing but the best in his future endeavors.”
In Hogan’s six seasons at Coastal Carolina, the Chanticleers won two Big South regular season and tournament championships, advanced to a pair of NCAA Tournaments and played in postseason NIT and CIT tournaments, while also compiling 134 wins. Hogan also helped the development of All-Big South selections Anthony Raffa, Warren Gillis, Elijah Wilson and Josh Cameron.
“I am excited to get back to the state of Florida, which is where I consider home, and I look forward to the challenges of this new opportunity” said Hogan. “It’s with mixed emotions that I am leaving Coastal Carolina after six years that featured great success. My wife Barbara and I are thankful to coach Ellis, Coastal Carolina and the Conway community for making us a part of the Chanticleer family.”
