Western Michigan University and new head men’s basketball coach Dwayne Stephens have announced the addition of Manny Dosanjh to the program as an assistant coach. Dosanjh joins Thomas Kelley and Jeff Rutter as Stephens’ three assistant coaches for the upcoming 2022-23 season.
“Manny is a young, energetic star in the making,” Stephens said. “Although young, there is no one I know that is more connected. He has spent time at every level, from prep and AAU ball in Canada, to being part of the Michigan State staff the past two years. Manny is a tireless worker that lives the game of basketball. Our student-athletes will love working with him.”
Dosanjh arrives in Kalamazoo having spent the last two years working alongside Stephens as a graduate assistant at Michigan State. MSU made the NCAA Tournament in both of his seasons in East Lansing and totaled 38 victories. This past year, Dosanjh was selected to take part in the TopConnect Leadership Academy and graduated with a master’s degree in Kinesiology.
“I am beyond grateful and excited to join Coach Stephens at Western Michigan University,” Dosanjh said. “Having worked alongside Coach Stephens for the past two years at Michigan State, I was able to witness the impact he has on both student-athletes and the community. I can’t wait to attack each day with our staff and players and return WMU to the top of the MAC. Western Michigan has won before, and it has all the tools to win again. Let’s Ride!”
Prior to his time at MSU, Dosanjh spent two years working at Orangeville Prep in Ontario, Canada. For the 2019-20 season, he served as the associate head coach for an Orangeville Prep team which sent seven players to NCAA DI programs and won an Ontario Championship.
Dosanjh played collegiately at Delta College from 2015-17, where he was a two-time NJCAA Academic All-American and a two-time team captain. From there, he joined the men’s basketball program and earned his bachelor’s degree from Oral Roberts University.
He and his wife, Tanny, were married in August of 2021.
