At Dr. Dish Basketball we’re always in the Dish Lab thinking of the best ways to utilize our machines for game-like training!
Recently, our very own former college basketball players Emily Stiemsma (Customer Success and Marketing Specialist) and Brittnye McSparron (Business Development Executive) created a great Skill Builder workout and executed it in the Dish Lab.
In this skill builder workout, Emily and Brittnye showcase 2 drills that mimic actions seen within a 5 out read and react motion offense, combined with squat/push up combo and free throws to create a complete workout.

In this workout, players must focus on many other things other than just making shots. Such as, setting a good pin screen and communicating to the other players on the floor. Another great part about this drill is it can easily be expanded to incorporate more players.
Keep an eye out for other skill builder workouts that feature movements seen in the Read and React offense. Incorporate them into off season of preseason training to get players’ mindsets back into game-like actions. When it come time for season players can then run these drills seamlessly in practice.
The beauty of Dr. Dish Skill Builder is that you can build all of these drills into a single workout and push the entire workout to the machine. With just one push of a button on the Dr. Dish app, the Dr. Dish machine will transition seamlessly from drill to drill and provide detailed analytics and feedback once the complete workout is finished.
This really does define a new breed of training.
As we always say: Make sure to train hard, train smart, and train with a purpose.
