Kyle Drake, who spent the previous two seasons (2012-14) with the Arkansas State University men’s basketball program, has been named A-State’s Director of Basketball Operations in an announcement made this Monday (Aug. 25) by seventh-year head coach John Brady.

Drake will be in charge of the Red Wolves’ team travel for the upcoming 2014-15 season along with coordinating all of A-State’s 6th Man Club and top 200 events. A native of North Little Rock, Ark., Drake will also supervise the team’s student managers while continuing with his current responsibilities of game film breakdown and video exchange with the Red Wolves’ opponents.

Prior to his appointment, Drake served as a graduate assistant with the A-State men’s basketball program for the 2013-14 season as the Red Wolves compiled a 19-13 overall record. He was responsible for game video exchange, breakdown of both practice and game film along with assistant the director of basketball operations with team equipment, travel, and lodging. Drake was a team manager for the 2012-13 Red Wolves squad, which claimed the Sun Belt Conference (SBC) West Division Champion title en route to a 19-12 overall record.

A 2013 A-State graduate, Drake earned his bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies with an emphasis in coaching, business, and English. While completing his undergraduate course work at A-State, Drake held membership with Kappa Alpha Order fraternity. Drake is currently pursing a master’s degree in sports administration with an expected December 2014 graduation date.

Drake graduated from North Little Rock (Ark.) High School in 2009 and was a two-year (2007-09) varsity basketball team letter winner. Drake was a starter during his 2008-09 senior season and was a member of the 2006-07 junior varsity team as a sophomore. He was chosen as the recipient of the Charging Wildcat Spirit Award in his senior year for the most school spirit and served on the school’s senior cabinet.
