Drill of the Week

Former 3x NBA Champion and NBA Coach of the Year Byron Scott demonstrates a great drill centered around shooting options for pin-down screens using the Dr. Dish Home machine.

Throughout this drill players should focus on their footwork, and staying on balance while executing at game speed.  Check out the full demonstration in the video below!

The Pin Down Drill

The various pin downs with descriptions are listed below. This drill includes 5-options players can work on to come off pin-down screens.

Elbow Catch: The best spot to catch a pin down. Byron works with Max to show you a variety of options from the elbow.

  1. Catch and shoot: The player catches the ball and shoots from the spot the pass was caught.
  2. One dribble pull up right: The player catches the ball, takes one dribble to the right, and pulls up from there.
  3. Runner: The player catches the ball, dribbles in to the lane and shoots a floater.
  4. One dribble pull up left: The player catches the ball, takes one dribble to the left, and pulls up from there.
  5. Step back: The player catches the ball, does a step back move, and shoots a jump shot.
