Colgate men’s basketball head coach Matt Langel announced Monday the hiring of Pete Durr as the director of basketball operations.
Durr’s primary responsibilities include serving as the team’s travel and video coordinator, in addition to assisting with recruiting efforts, summer camps and day-to-day office duties.
"We are thrilled to add Pete to our coaching staff," Langel said. "Growing up in the region as the son of a successful coach, combined with his various playing and coaching experiences, provides Pete with a perspective that not many guys his age have. We feel fortunate to add his views and abilities to our program. I am confident Pete will work hard to help us continue to grow the program as we strive for excellence in all we do."
Durr comes to Colgate from State University of New York Institute of Technology, where he served as an assistant coach for the 2013-14 season. He helped guide the Wildcats to an overall record of 18-7.
Prior to SUNYIT, Durr served as the assistant coach at Division III Union. He also served as the interim head coach during the summer of 2013. In his two seasons with the Dutchmen, the team compiled a 36-15 record (.705), while earning back-to-back post season berths. In 2012-13 the team went 20-6 and received the Liberty League Coaching Staff of the Year Award.
Durr, a 2010 Keuka College graduate in education, was a four-year member and three-year starter for the Storm men’s basketball team. He was selected as an All-NEAC performer during his junior and season seasons. Durr was a three-year captain, and graduated sixth all-time in Keuka’s records book for three-point field goals made and eighth in assists.
A Deerfield, New York, native and graduate of Notre Dame High School, Durr played under his father Mike Durr, and was an all Tri-Valley League performer. He helped lead the Jugglers to a sectional championship in his senior year as well.
