University of South Carolina Beaufort Associate Vice Chancellor for Athletics / Athletics Director Tim Daniels and Head Coach Ron Fudala have announced the promotion of Luke Dyer to Associate Head Coach of Men’s Basketball.
Dyer has served as an assistant coach for the Sand Sharks since the program’s inaugural season in 2023-24. He joined the USCB coaching staff following his stellar playing career at West Liberty University.
Dyer has played a major role in the early success of Sand Shark basketball, helping the program earn back-to-back trips to the Peach Belt Conference Tournament and opening round host. Under his guidance, the team has also recorded an increase in conference wins in each of its first three seasons, has five (5) Top-25 victories, produced five (5) All Conference players, a Peach Belt Championship Game appearance, and has led the PBC in scoring, steals, and turnover margin for 3 consecutive seasons.
He was a key part in the program’s improvement from its inaugural season to its second year, helping the Sand Sharks increase their overall win total by 11 victories and their conference win total by eight. That improvement helped propel USCB to a Peach Belt Conference Tournament Championship Game appearance in its first-ever run in the conference playoffs. The Sand Sharks followed up the 21-win campaign in their 2nd season with consecutive PBC Playoff Host performance.
During Dyer’s first three seasons on the coaching staff, the Sand Sharks have earned nine end-of-season conference honors. Those accolades include Peach Belt Conference Freshman of the Year, three All-Conference Second Team selections, two All-Conference Third Team selections, two All PBC Tournament team performers and one Elite 18 Award winner. In three quick years, the program has seven USCB graduates.
Dyer states, “It is an honor to be part of our coaching staff at USCB as we continue building a lifetime legacy. I am excited to take on the role of Associate Head Coach and contribute to the continued growth and success of our program.”
Dyer is set to begin his fourth season with USCB as the Sand Sharks prepare to open the 2026-27 regular season on November 10.
