The ink isn’t even dry on departed coach Fran McCaffrey’s contract at Iowa, but the names are already starting to roll in as his possible replacements at Siena. Here’s who I’ve heard so far.

Mitch Buonagura – current assistant at Siena. A long time assistant (won a National Championship at Villanova in 1985) who has expressed interest in the job.

Cliff Warren – Head Coach Jacksonville. Was an assistant at Siena (1998-2000) under Paul Hewitt.

Bill Coen – Head Coach Northeastern. Has done a great job building that program. Would definitely be an upgrade in salary for him.

Robert Burke – assistant at American. Was also on Hewitt’s staff at Siena. One of three candidates to interview for the job last time.

Other names that may be mentioned here, but are considered long shots for various reasons:

Tim Welch – former Providence Head Coach

Steve Donahue – Head Coach Cornell

Mike Rice – Head Coach Robert Morris
