Eberhart, Mosley added to Reggie Theus’ Bethune-Cookman Basketball Staff

Bethune-Cookman University announced today the addition of two new assistant coaches to its men’s basketball program. Patrick Eberhart and Ambrose Mosley will join head coach Reggie Theus‘ staff for the upcoming 2024-25 season, with the departure of Chris Pompey and Adam Topp, respectively.

Ambrose Mosley returns to Bethune-Cookman after two seasons away from the program at Eastern Kentucky. As for Patrick Eberhart, he arrives to Daytona Beach from South Dakota, where he spent the last two years with the Coyotes program.

“Eberhart and Mosley represent the caliber of coaches we need to elevate our program,” expressed Theus when talking about the two new appointments. “Their combined experience and fresh perspectives align perfectly with our vision for Wildcats Basketball.”

Eberhart was an assistant coach at South Dakota for the 2022-24 seasons, after spending 11 years with Omaha. With the Mavericks of Omaha, Eberhart served as the recruiting coordinator, aiding in the recruitment of eight all-conference performers, three all-newcomer team honorees, three Summit League defensive players of the year, the 2019-20 Sixth Man of the Year, as well as the 2015-16 Summit League Transfer of the Year. A native of Anchorage, Alaska, Eberhart was the head men’s basketball coach for Colorado State University-Pueblo from 2005-2011. He rejoined CSU-Pueblo after serving as an assistant coach there from 1997-2001. The ThunderWolves compiled a 76-89 record and made back-to-back trips to the semifinals of the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tournament in 2009 and 2010, respectively.

“We’re thrilled to welcome Coach Eberhart to our Wildcats family,” said Theus. “His proven track record in player development and his deep understanding of the game is going to benefit us greatly in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. His commitment to the game will be invaluable as we continue to build our program.”

Mosley returns to the Wildcats where he was a volunteer assistant for Theus during his inaugural 2021-22 season for the Maroon and Gold. The past two years, the Jacksonville, Florida, native has served as an assistant coach with Eastern Kentucky, helping the Colonels to the title game of the Atlantic Sun Tournament in 2024. He was promoted to assistant coach in 2023, after spending the 2022-23 campaign as director of player personnel. In 2022-23, the Old Dominion grad was part of a staff that helped the Colonels win 23 games – third-most in one season in program history. The Colonels reached the championship game of the College Basketball Invitational (CBI). It was the program’s first national postseason tournament title game ever and the first time in 78 years that an EKU team won three games in a national tournament.

“I’m proud to welcome back Coach Mosley to our coaching staff,” Theus said. “He was a big part of an outstanding group that saw Eastern Kentucky reach program heights in recent years. We’re excited to have him back in the fold to take our program to the next level.”

Eberhart and Mosley will begin their duties immediately, joining the team for summer workouts and recruitment activities. The Wildcats are set to open their 2024-25 season in November, with the full schedule to be announced in the coming weeks.
