Head coach Eric Fundalewicz and the Embry-Riddle men’s basketball program have announced the hiring of Doug Beilfuss as assistant coach. Beilfuss will be involved in all aspects of the program that starts its inaugural season this coming 2015-16 season.
"Doug is the epitome of what we are looking for here at Embry-Riddle and the basketball program. I’ve had the opportunity to watch and know Doug for the past 15 years and have been impressed with his basketball program at Bradshaw Mountain."
"Doug’s professionalism and hard work were just the tip of the iceberg when I was considering him as an assistant. His programs have been very successful in his many years coaching and I’ve always been impressed with how well his teams improved year to year as individuals and as a team. They always work incredibly hard for him and I’m looking forward to him bringing that ability over here to Embry-Riddle."
Beilfuss has spent the past 14 years as the head coach at Bradshaw Mountain High School in Prescott Valley, AZ. In those years, he has compiled an overall record of 200-196. He leaves Bradshaw with the most wins in school history as well as the best winning percentage in its history.
Prior to being the head coach at Bradshaw Mountain, Beilfuss spent eight years as the JV head coach and Varsity assistant coach at Moon Valley High School in Phoenix, AZ and prior to that, three years as the Freshmen assistant coach at Rincon/University High School in Tucson, AZ. In his 22 years as a head coach at the JV and Varsity levels, Beilfuss has accumulated over 300 wins and has helped 14 players move on to play at the collegiate level.
"God has blessed me with an extra-ordinary opportunity at ERAU. I will work my hardest to make the University and community proud. I look forward to serving the quad-city area. It was through much prayer by my loved ones and me that I made this decision to be a part of the ERAU family!"
"My faith and my family are extremely important to me. I consider the guys on the team as part of our family. Our families connected so well during the informal meetings that it made the choice to come to ERAU even easier."
"It’s a great opportunity to learn the college game from a young and passionate coach like Eric. I was impressed with the vision Eric has for the ERAU Men’s Basketball Program on and off the court that I wanted to be a part of it. It was like he was recruiting me!"
