Emporia State head coach Craig Doty has announced three additions to the Hornet men’s basketball staff. Tyler Long and Maurice Jackson join the staff for the first time while Justin Tucek returns to the Hornets after a year away.
“We would like to welcome Tyler Long and Maurice Jackson to our staff and welcome home Justin Tucek,” said Doty. These guys are relationship-focused, high-energy and student-centered. The impact they’ll make on our student-athletes and university will be immense.”
Tucek was a graduate assistant at Northwestern State (La.) last season. The Demons went 9-7 in the Southland Conference and advanced to the semifinals of the conference tournament for the first time since 2015. He was the head student assistant at Emporia State from 2018-20 and was involved in film maintenance and exchange of games and practices, assisting in individual workouts, creating recruiting databases and evaluating prospects and recording and evaluating practice stats. His first student assistant position was at Rock Valley College, helping with daily operations of practices, games and other aspects of the program. Tucek is a native of Madison, S.D.
A Warrensburg, Mo. native, Long has spent the last five seasons on staff at Central Missouri as a student and graduate assistant coach. He has assisted with nearly every facet of the Mules program including practices, equipment, travel, video work, day to day operations and summer camps.
Jackson played for Coach Doty at both Rock Valley College and Graceland. He was the point guard for RVC’s 2016 national championship team and was the Senior Athlete of the Year at Graceland in 2018-19.
“We love our staff additions. We value trust and office culture. I have a multi-year relationship with all three” said Doty. “All three coaches are really good coaching on the floor and will be big time recruiters.”
