Eskildsen named Assistant Basketball Coach at UCSB

The UC Santa Barbara Men’s Basketball team has added Brian Eskildsen as an assistant coach, Head Coach Joe Pasternack announced.
“We are excited to welcome Brian, his wife Natalie, and his daughter Penny to the UC Santa Barbara Basketball family,” Pasternack said. “It’s great to be reunited with him after our time of working together at New Orleans.”
Esklidsen was most recently at Georgia Tech, where he was a member of the staff for one season. During that time, he helped the team earn a spot in the second round of the ACC Championships. Prior to that, Esklidsen was on staff at Harvard University for eight seasons. During that time, he assisted the Crimson to three Ivy League Championships, an NCAA tournament appearance and two NIT berths. Before his time in Cambridge, Esklidsen was on staff at Rice, Stanford and New Orleans.
“I’m thrilled and honored to be joining the UC Santa Barbara Basketball program under the leadership of Coach Pasternack,” Eskildsen said. “Having previously worked with Coach Pasternack, it’s been fun to watch from afar the growth and incredible success of the team over the last several years. My family and I are now ecstatic to be a part of the Santa Barbara community and I can’t wait to help continue to push the program to new heights.”
Esklidsen will replace assistant coach Ben Tucker on Pasternack’s staff. Tucker joined the program at the start of the Pasternack era, assisting the team’s rise to greatness in the Gaucho record books. Since joining the staff, he was a part of five 20+ win seasons while helping the Gauchos make the NCAA tournament twice in the last three seasons.
“Coach Tucker has been a huge part of what we accomplished over the last six years,” Pasternack said. “His consistent, everyday work ethic along with his X-and-O’s in game planning really contributed to our success. Embry-Riddle is very fortunate to have Coach Tucker leading their program. He is one of the brightest young coaches in the country.”
