Ethan Faulkner Named Youngstown State Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach

Youngstown State men’s basketball Head Coach Jerrod Calhoun announced that Ethan Faulkner has joined the program as an assistant coach.

Faulkner, a 2014 graduate of Northern Kentucky, spent the three years (2016-19) at the University of the Cumberlands, one season at Mount Vernon Nazarene University (2015-16) and one year as an assistant coach at Northern Kentucky (2014-15).

“We’ve put together a staff that is very young and energetic and guys that bring us a different dynamic,” Calhoun said. “Ethan Faulkner is a very tough guy and was an overachiever as a player. He has a tremendous basketball mind and will really help us on the defensive side.”

During his time at NKU, he coached an Atlantic Sun Freshman of the Year and two second-team all-conference players.

As a player at NKU, Faulkner was a team captain for two years while playing in 117 games with 73 starts in his career. He currently ranks in the top 10 in all-time career assists and 11th in all-time free throw percentage.

Calhoun also named Jason Slay associate head coach, Paul Molinari will now serve as the director of operations and Danny Reese moves into the role of Director of Player Personnel.

Earlier this summer, Calhoun hired Chinedu Nwachukwu as an assistant coach.
