New Siena Men’s Basketball Head Coach Carmen Maciariello ’01 has completed his first staff with the appointment of Greg Fahey as the Saints’ director of basketball operations. The Randolph, New Jersey native comes to Siena after spending the past season as a graduate assistant at Providence College.
“I’ve had the opportunity to watch Greg grow from his time as an assistant at St. Benedict’s Prep, to a tireless Division III assistant at FDU Florham, and then to the Big East as a graduate assistant,” said Maciariello. “He is great with people, and always looking to learn. I’m so excited to have Greg as our director of basketball operations.”
Fahey brings three years of experience on collegiate staffs with him to Loudonville. Last season, he served as a graduate assistant under head coach Ed Cooley for a Friars squad which advanced to the NIT. Fahey first entered the collegiate ranks as an assistant coach for two seasons at Division III FDU Florham.
Fahey began his coaching career as the head junior varsity and assistant varsity coach for three years at St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark, New Jersey. He helped guide the Gray Bees to an 89-15 record, highlighted by a peak ranking of eighth nationally. St. Benedict’s Prep posted a 35-2 mark during the 2015-16 season to finish 12th nationally and earn a berth to the Dick’s High School National Tournament.
Fahey graduated from Marist College in 2013 with his degree in sports communications and a minor in psychology. He was a four-year manager for the Red Foxes’ men’s basketball program, working his way up to head manager his senior year.
