Faulkner’s Sanderson earns 500th career win

Faulkner flipped the switch to put a lackluster first-half finish behind it and distanced itself with a 53.33% second-half shooting performance to put away Mobile 71-55 at Tine Davis Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. The win marked the 500th of Coach Scott Sanderson‘s head coaching career that fittingly began at Mobile. He has amassed a record of 500-304 throughout 26 seasons as a head coach.

Sanderson is in his ninth season as Faulkner’s head basketball coach. Under his tutelage, the Eagles are 174-74 and have appeared in the national tournament twice while producing eight All-Americans. Sanderson was named SSAC Coach of the Year in 2019-2020, the fifth time he has won a Coach of the Year award.

Sanderson is the former head coach at the University of Mobile and Lipscomb University. He replaced his older brother Jim Sanderson, who retired from the position after 24 years.
