Fayetteville State has narrowed down its coaching search to three finalists. Included are Grambling State assistant Alphonza Kee, Elizabeth City coach Shawn Walker, and UNC-Wilmington assistant Joe Redmond.
Alphonza Kee seems to be the favorite for the job, having played at Fayetteville. He also has 11 years of coaching experience.
Shawn Walker has a ton of experience in the CIAA; first playing at Elizabeth City and second, leading the Vikings for the past 7 seasons. This past season he led the team to a 21-7 record.
Joe Redmond is the dark horse here as he does not have any ties to the CIAA. Despite this, he does have head coaching experience and experience at the D1 level.
Interviews will be conducted over this coming week and a decision should be made by next week.
