FEATURED JOB: Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach/Women’s Basketball Operations – UPIKE

UPIKE is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Men’s Basketball Assistant Coach/Women’s Basketball Operations. The candidate will be responsible for assisting the Head Coaches with the management and administration of activities related to the Men’s and Women’s basketball programs. The Operations/Assistant Coach is responsible for adhering to the University rules and policy and Appalachian Athletic Conference/NAIA rules while supporting the mission and core values of the basketball programs.

Responsibilities:

  1. Administrative duties in all phases of the program.
  2. Assist with all phases of competitive NAIA compliant recruiting.
  3. Evaluate prospective student-athletes through game, showcase, and video observation.
  4. Execute and evaluate practice and game planning, including video coordination Directly responsible for position skill development in assigned area(s).
  5. Practice planning and implementation.
  6. Assist with the direction of camps, fundraising, and other program development activities.
  7. Coordinate all travel related schedules, lodging and overnight accommodations.
  8. Serve as the NAIA Eligibility Center Coordinator as well as Champions of Character Events Coordinator.
  9. Assist new and returning students with the Admissions and Financial Aid processes.
  10. Effectively participate in daily program operations, establishment/enforcement of team rules, and communication with athletic training staff.
  11. Other duties as assigned by the head coaches.

Education/Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree is required.
  • Previous collegiate coaching experience (3-5 years) is preferred.
  • Previous experience mentoring assistant coaches/staff, junior college recruiting, and fundraising is desired.
  • Must be/remain in good standing with the University academically and judicially
  • Knowledge of the rules and regulations established by the NAIA and the Appalachian Athletic Conference.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with faculty, students, and staff.
  • Self-motivated, flexible and ability to work independently as well as in teams.
  • Position requires a commitment to student confidentiality and may require occasional evening and/or weekend hours.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Attention to accuracy and detail. Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Analytical, reasoning, and problem-solving skills.
  • Commitment to integrity, excellence, learning, and community.
