As Rick Pitino heads to Europe, Larry Brown returns home.

Italian club Fiat Torino and Hall of Fame coach Larry Brown have parted ways, the team announced in a statement today. This news comes on the heels of another Hall of Fame coach heading to Europe, as Rick Pitino inked his deal with Greek powerhouse Panathinaikos yesterday.

Brown became the head coach of the Lega Serie A team back at the beginning of the summer. He had led them to a 5-19 record so far this season.

Fiat Torino tweeted the following earlier today:

The club also parted ways with Brown’s top assistant Dante Calabria, a former North Carolina standout. Calabria had served as the head coach at Keiser University (FL) before resigning over the summer to join Brown.

Brown is the only coach in basketball history to win both an NCAA National Championship (Kansas, 1988) and an NBA title (Detroit Pistons, 2004). He had most recently been the head coach at SMU, where he led the Mustangs to a 94-39 record in three seasons.
