Florida A&M adds Walker as Assistant Men’s Basketball Coach

Florida A&M men’s basketball adds a new face to the coaching staff with the addition of LeBrent Walker.

“LeBrent is a young star in this business,” said Head Coach Patrick Crarey II. “He can generate meaningful relationships with his players and co-workers. Having worked with one of the best coaches in the country, Will Wade, at LSU and then going to Arizona Compass Prep, a premier high school basketball program nationally, his experience working for and with high-level programs is extensive.

“He played for me in college at Washington Adventist and then was a student assistant before he graduated. I’m very excited about reuniting with LeBrent at FAMU.”

Walker joins the Rattlers after one season as an assistant coach with Arizona Compass Prep, where LeBrent Walker helped lead them to a High School Chipotle National Tournament, a 24-7 Record, and ranking as one of the country’s best high school prep programs.

Before Arizona Compass Prep, Walker spent four seasons at Louisiana State University (LSU), two as a graduate assistant earning his master’s degree while assisting in basketball operations and two as the coordinator of basketball operations.

Walker came to LSU before the 2018-19 season after two seasons as student assistant coach at Washington Adventist University (WAU) in Takoma Park, Maryland. Walker was involved in game scouting reports and planning game strategies for WAU against future opponents.

Walker is a native of Queens, New York, and also played guard at WAU for two seasons. Before that, he played at Midland College and Central Arizona College, ranked sixth in the junior college rankings in 2013 with a 30-5 record. Walker prepped at Our Savior New American School in New York.

Walker earned 3.0 GPA achievement awards at Washington Adventist and Midland College and Dean’s List status at WAU.
