Florida head coach Todd Golden has received his third raise in as many years, with his new contract making him one of the highest-paid coaches in college basketball.

Golden recently signed a one-year extension that increases the total value of his deal to $49.5 million. The contract now averages $8.25 million annually and keeps the 40-year-old under contract through the 2031-32 season.

Golden’s salary will jump from $6 million to $7.5 million next season before increasing by $300,000 annually and reaching $9 million in the final year of the deal. Only Kansas’ Bill Self, UConn’s Dan Hurley and Arkansas’ John Calipari are currently slated to earn more next season.

The new agreement also includes a $500,000 annual longevity incentive, a $100,000 expense account, private jet usage and additional benefits. Golden can also earn bonuses for SEC championships, NCAA Tournament appearances and tournament victories.

Florida would owe Golden 85% of his remaining contract if he were fired without cause. His buyout to leave for another college job starts at $16 million next season, although his buyout to leave for the NBA begins at $3 million.

Golden has gone 103-41 (.715) in four seasons at Florida and led the Gators to a 36-4 record and the program’s third national championship in 2024-25. Florida is expected to contend for another title this season, with Golden returning nearly 82% of last year’s scoring.

Golden arrived at Florida in 2022 following three seasons as the head coach at San Francisco. His salary has now climbed from $4.1 million following his first extension to $6 million last year and $7.5 million for the upcoming season.
